A PERSONAL TESTIMONY (Part 2 of 3)

By Warrior Richardson

A Personal testimony would not be complete without a description of our life before conversion.  Our description of our pre-saved life gives the details of our life prior to conversion; when we give that, we make it clear what it's like to be, for example, addicted to drugs, oppressively angry, bitter, and more.

We are converted when we acknowledge God is the only way to overcome these things, which shows our awareness of our spiritual needs.  At that point we trust in him.  When we rely on God to overcome these things; when we recognize we can’t do this alone and trust that he has the power to do it for us we have reached the point where conversion happens.

A sincere plea to God for help is clearly indicative of our trust in him, and results in a very inspiring testimony. A detailed description of one’s pre-saved life gives people a clear sense of our distaste for sin and our intelligent disdain for it, and will definitely make it clear that we, without a doubt, did “feel our spiritual need” and will describe what it means to be a “slave to sin”—No one will be able to miss that, neither saved nor unsaved; and many unbelievers may very well become painfully aware of their own spiritual needs as a result of hearing this.  They may then seek a solution; and, of course, that solution is Christ.

When people talk about how badly

they felt about their sinful life before conversion and then talk about how they looked to God for relief, and in the end, say something like “I was suddenly overcome with a sense of happiness.”

No one could miss the fact that that was their moment of conversion, not even an unbeliever; especially when people say it without any specialized Christian language that only Christians can understand (Christianese).

In this blog I take a close look at a wide variety of topics using the Bible as my lens. When we look at the world through the lens of scripture we discover life-changing truth that transforms us. We discover our

identity, purpose and worth. We find answers to life's most pressing questions. “If you don't know where you're going any road will take you there.” But when we look at the world through the lens of scripture we find the "way, the truth and the life;" then we live life to the fullest.
