What's the Point of it All?

“Meaningless! Meaningless!”

says the Teacher.

“Utterly meaningless!

Everything is meaningless.”

(Ecclesiastes 1:3 NIV)

Who am I? What is my purpose? What am I worth? Why am I here? Who put me here?

When someone considers the possibility that life lacks meaning, he can experience an extreme form of anxiety, and despair or hopelessness, unless he gets a satisfactory answer. He needs a moral compass to navigate through life in a meaningful way.

"Life is meaningless. When we take a life we take nothing of value."-- Brent Weeks"

"Life is meaningless, but worth living, provided you recognize its meaningless."--Albert Camus

"The very meaninglessness of life forces man to create his own meaning."--Stanley Kubrick

"The only absolute knowledge attainable by man is that life is meaningless."--Leo Tolstoy

"I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made." (Psalm 139:14, ESV)

"But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8, ESV)

"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows." (Matthew 10:29-21, ESV)

"And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." (Phililpians 1:6, ESV)

"By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers." (1 John 3:16, ESV)

"For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in." (Psalm 27:10, ESV)

"For you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.". (1 Corinthians 6:20), ESV)

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him". (John 3:16-17, ESV)

"Now all has been heard;

here is the conclusion of the matter:

Fear God and keep his commandments,

for this is the duty of all mankind."

(Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 NIV)

In this blog I take a close look at a wide variety of topics using the Bible as my lens. When we look at the world through the lens of scripture we discover life-changing truth that transforms us. We discover our identity, purpose and worth. We find answers to life's most pressing questions. “If you don't know where you're going any road will take you there.” But when we look at the world through the lens of scripture we find the "way, the truth and the life;" then we live life to the fullest.
